NOIAW Member Nancy Macina – Art through the Pandemic

NOIAW was delighted to discover that a recent newsletter issued by New York’s Center for Italian Modern Art (CIMA) featured two oil paintings, “Walking Distance” (above) and “Venice” (below) by NOIAW’s longstanding member Nancy Macina, the Italian American painter who curated the NOIAW artists’ exhibition, “Rinascimento Femminile,” in July of 2019 at The Plaxall Gallery in Long Island City, New York.  The former work is an artistic response to the pandemic.

Nancy not only curated “Rinascimento” but also coproduced the NOIAW 2020 Artists’ Calendar, which was an enormously popular perk for members who joined or renewed their NOIAW membership in 2019.  Soon, another project curated by Nancy will be unveiled, created collectively by the same group of Italian American women artists affiliated with NOIAW–so please stay tuned.

Nancy has shown her work in numerous group and solo shows at galleries in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens as well as Florida, Canada, Italy and Paris, France.  “I see in the world’s great cities the genius loci that humankind has created in its search for some truths.”
