The evening will be celebrated with the traditional meatless specialties of Chef/Owner Vittorio Asoli of Trattoria Romana. A 5-course dinner will be served including Sicilian hummus, soup, blood orange and fennel salad, pasta con sarde, sfinge and zeppole di San Giuseppe with coffee and 1 glass of wine. Throughout the evening our host Chef Vittorio will demonstrate how to prepare and cook these traditional Italian dishes, where he includes the guests and invites them to assist. He will explain the importance of each dish as he prepares each course, and discuss the origins of St. Joseph’s Day and various ways in which the holiday is celebrated in Southern Italy.
A traditional St. Joseph’s table will be displayed with a statue adorned with an abundance of fresh breads, fruits, vegetables and flowers.
About the Chef
Chef Vittorio Asoli, born in Rome, Italy is the owner/chef of Trattoria Romana since 1994. He is known for his outgoing personality and creative talent as a chef. He is a heralded chef whose popular cooking classes are widely attended and regularly televised on Staten Island Community Television. Chef Vittorio recently received the Community Anchor Award at Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Gardens Neptune Ball.
