08 Sep Private Art Tour of ALBERTO SAVINIO Exhibition at CIMA (GNY Metro) on October 17
Join Metro NY NOIAW members and friends for a private tour of Alberto Savinio, the new exhibition at the Center for Italian Modern Art (CIMA).
Hailed by poet and critic Guillaume Apollinaire as the paragon of a Renaissance man, Savinio (1891–1952), the younger brother of Giorgio de Chirico, was a gifted pianist, composer, musicologist, critic, and writer, in addition to visual artist. CIMA’s exhibition, the first in the United States in more than two decades, will highlight the paintings he produced after his 1926 move to Paris, where he was soon immersed in the city’s avant-garde. The exhibition explores Savinio’s work through two major themes: imaginary spaces and the family as a site of perilous ambiguity.
The private tour will be capped off with an aperitivo!
Gentlemen always welcome.
