Wagner College Holocaust Center Presents:
“Beneath a Scarlet Sky” Book Presentation and DiscussionWith Award Winning Author Mark Sullivan
Join Wagner College Holocaust Center and NOIAW for a book discussion with author Mark Sullivan. Based on the true story of a forgotten hero, Beneath a Scarlet Sky is the triumphant, epic tale of one young man’s incredible courage and resilience during one of history’s darkest hours. The story chronicles the transformation of 17-year old Pino Lella after bombings destroy his family home in Milan. Pino joins an underground railroad helping Jews escape over the Alps. In an unlikely twist, Pino becomes the personal driver of General Hans Leyers, who oversaw slave labor camps, allowing him to pass confidential information about the Germans to Allied forces. Mark Sullivan not only interviewed Pino but retraced his steps up the treacherous mountains near Casa Alpina.
Soon to be a major motion picture from Pascal Pictures, starring Tom Holland, now appearing in Spiderman: Homecoming.
