Celebrate Italian Heritage Month with a series of seven Italian film screenings on Long Island. All film presentations will be introduced by film expert Irene Porco Eckert, with discussion to follow.

A delightful story of Federico Fellini’s early life in Ravenna. This film won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language film in 1974. This event is free to the public.

A heartwarming story of hope, love, and poetry. A friendship forms between an Italian postman and a world-renowned poet. This event is free to the public.

Divorce Italian Style: Monday, October 17, at 7:30 pm
Cinema Arts Centre
A great satire from the Commedia al’italiana genre by Pietro Germini. Touches on outmoded social customs in Sicily, and what one husband is forced to do to divorce his wife. Admission to this event is $10.

Ciao, Professore: Friday, October 20, 2016 at 7:00 pm
Harborfields Public Library
A wonderful movie about education problems in Southern Italy (Naples) among the poor, especially the children. Told through many comic scenes. This event is free to the public.

A social commentary on corruption in the workplace… with a comic twist! A Lina Wertmuller film. This event is free to the public.

A Brief Vacation: Friday, October 28, 2016 at 6:30 pm

A heartwarming film about the illness of a wife and mother who finds her forced vacation (by government regulation) a welcome escape from the hardships of her home life. This event is free to the public.
