14 Jul Storytrail Launches Video City Guide to Rome, Italy
Some of the best — and craziest — things can happen when you travel. A new startup, Storytrail, is here to capture those memories and share them on the web in a series of video guides and walking tours. Its mission: Let stories be your guide when you travel.
Storytrail launched on June 8, 2016 with a guide to Rome, Italy. The company plans to add guides to 11 additional cities in the United States and Europe that are frequently visited by American travelers, including New York, London, Paris, and Budapest.
Each web guide features an interactive map with a recommended walking route. Users can click on specified points throughout the route to view short videos with local area historians and experts. A mobile app is in development which will allow users to navigate their own walking tour from their smartphones.
Storytrail chose Rome as the launch city for its rich history and curious stories and artifacts. The Rome storytrails cover four areas of Rome, with about 20 places per area. Featured spots? Iconic destinations like Campo dei Fiori and Piazza Navona, along with undiscovered places like Vicolo del Gallo.
Storytrail also features funny and quirky stories from users on its blog. Maria Pasquale of HeartRome, Kelly Medford of Sketching Rome Tours, and Kathy McCabe of Dream of Italy recently shared stories there.
To celebrate its launch, Storytrail is offering a giveway prize package of two tickets to Rome, a three night stay in a five-star hotel, and a dinner at a Michelin-starred restaurant. To enter, visit www.storytrail.co, create an account, and share the site with your network.
