RECAP: Greater Washington, D.C. Epiphany Celebration 1/14/16

Honorees Lisa Monaco, Gina M. Grosso and Gemma Puglisi

On Thursday, January 14, 2016 NOIAW’s Greater Washington, D.C. Region joined for an Epiphany Celebration honoring Three Wise Women at Maggiano’s Little Italy. Congratulations to our inspiring 2016 honorees Gina M. Grosso, Lieutenant General, U.S. Air Force; Lisa Monaco, Assistant to President Obama for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism; and Gemma Puglisi, Author, media expert and Assistant Professor of Communications at American University.

Diana Femia, President of the Greater Washington, D.C. Region and Vice Chair of the National Board, and Maria Tamburri, NOIAW National Board Chair, welcomed guests to the event. Julia Bellotti, 2014 NOIAW Cultural Exchange Program Participant, graciously spoke about her positive experience on her trip to Rome with NOIAW.

We were fortunate to have Former Maryland Congresswoman Constance Morella present the awards to the honorees. In addition, we were grateful to have many special guests in attendance including Italian Ambassador Claudio Bisogniero; Carlo Romeo, First Counselor of Consular Coordination and Social Affairs; Patricia Violante, Former Senior Professional Staff at the Embassy; and a table of friends from NIAF.

As always, it was a beautiful event. A group of lucky winners walked home with a fantastic set of silent auction prizes!

A big thank you to all those who supported this event!
