Recap – NOIAW’s Tour of Northern Italy + EXPO 2015 September 10-18, 2015

Italy Group

The group in Ricetto, a Medieval City of the Province of Biella.

From September 10-18 NOIAW led a group tour through Northern Italy, exploring the hidden (and not-so-hidden) gems of Lombardy and Piedmont. In historic Biella, the group visited medieval villages like Ricetto (above) and a local vineyard. Then they headed to Sordevolo for its famous Passion Play. This was the 250th anniversary of this incredible tradition; in Sordevolo, the play has been put on by the villagers every five years since the beginning of the 18th century.

A cruise on the ever-beautiful Lake Como offered a glimpse of the magnificent villas of Bellagio, including George Clooney’s. Two days at EXPO Milano, the 2015 World’s Fair provided a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore international innovations in technology that will create a sustainable future for our planet with a focus on nutrition.

Upon their return, the travelers raved about the trip. One guest wrote:

“[The trip] was so enjoyable, it really could not have gone better…I just want to say “grazie mille” to everyone who helped put the trip together. I went because of the Expo but it was so much more!!”
